You know the look: architectural silhouettes, bold basics, and a statement haircut, finished off with minimalist jewelry. Sometimes it feels like designers (of the furniture, textile, and ceramic variety) all met up and agreed on a uniform.

And every May in New York, when the globe’s freshest talents truck in a new batch of creations to show at fairs such as the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), WantedDesign, and Sight Unseen Offsite, they bring their A-game.

So rather than continuing to obsess over our favorite product introductions and installations from the past week, we decided to scour the fair aisles for the style icons of our scene.

They do call this the fashion week of the design world, after all. And while you won’t find a wealth of stilettos or fur, cool-kid design style (in all its brass-accented, angular glory) is out in force.
